How To Make Traditional Matcha Tea

Traditional matcha tea is a revered Japanese beverage with centuries-old roots in Japanese culture and ceremony. This vibrant green elixir is made from finely ground, shade-grown green tea leaves, carefully processed to retain their color and nutrients. The preparation of traditional matcha involves whisking the powdered tea with hot water using a bamboo whisk, creating a frothy, velvety cup of tea.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of high-quality matcha powder
  • 80 degrees celsius hot water (not boiling), approximately 2/3 cup
  • Bamboo matcha whisk

    Method:

    1. Sift the matcha powder into a bowl to remove any lumps.
    2. Add the hot water to the bowl.
    3. Whisk the matcha and water together using a bamboo whisk in a rapid back-and-forth motion until a frothy layer forms on top. Enjoy the smooth and invigorating traditional matcha tea
